IRTA Representative Assembly and Fall Workshops

Fulton County Retired Teachers Association sent members Stephenia Barkman and Kay Horn as delegates to the Indiana Retired Teachers Association Representative Assembly.  Delegates had the opportunity to interact with fellow RTA members from other Areas around the state as well as vote on changes to the IRTA bylaws.

RTA chapters are recognized for their work in the community and for their efforts within each association’s own organization.  Awards are presented at the Representative Assembly meeting.  FCRTA was awarded “Outstanding Press Release” at the 2017 Representative Assembly.

Kay Horn accepts the award on behalf of the Fulton County Retired Teachers Association.

The 2017 Fall Area #3 / Area #6 Workshop was attended by FCRTA members (left to right) Kay Horn, Stephenie Barkman, and Ilene Howard.  The Fall Workshop is a time to interact with other RTA members within your Area(s), gain legislative updates, and to gain valuable ideas for your association meetings.

Community Participation

Fulton County Retired Teachers Association member Ilene Howard, District and State Business Chairperson, attended a presentation at the Fulton County library where Dr. Steve Hollar was the guest speaker.  Dr. Hollar, who played Rade Butcher in the movie Hoosiers, provided many great stories from the movie and discussed the glory days of Hoosier basketball.  Dr. Steve Hollar is now a dentist in Warsaw, Indiana.

FCRTA Guest Speakers

The Fulton County Retired Teachers Association enjoyed a presentation by Anne King, RSVP Director for Fulton County, during the fall meeting.  Anne promoted the Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) in Fulton County and let everyone know how retired teachers in the association might get further involved with volunteering in the community.
